HISTORY Whole Body Vibration (WBV) technology is supported by over 40 years of scientific research. It was originally designed to help the Russian astronauts regain their muscle strength and bone density upon their return from space. HOW DOES IT WORK? The vibration plate on The WaveTM works by using the body’s natural ‘stretch reflex’. Every time the plate drops, your body responds with a very strong, involuntary muscle contraction. This plate has been designed to do this 20 to 50 times per second giving you up to 50 safe and gentle muscle contractions per second! You would have to do the equivalent of 50 lunges to get the same effect yourself! There are two ways to get stronger, lift heavy weights or lift lighter weights but with higher repetition. It is the simple principle of the law of motion by which the machine works. When we exercise our muscles, we are using Force to lift more or lift faster. The Force of an object is equal to its mass multiplied by acceleration, or f = m x a. This means that one can improve functional force (stability, strength or power) by either applying more mass or more acceleration to the body. Many forms of training and conditioning use mass (ie. weight machines or free weights). The vibration platform instead uses the second half of this equation by applying acceleration to the body, while keeping mass, your body weight, the same. In addition, because of the high amount of repetition provided by the vibration platform, you will be able to complete a full body workout in under 15 minutes!
